a fish merchant’s building, kept honest
The building was put up in the 1890s to salt, store and ship fish from the harbour below. We kept the slate floors, the iron hooks along the beams and the deep window reveals that once held back the weather.
What we added is quiet: good beds, hot water that does not run out, wool blankets from a mill down the coast, and a lamp by every chair.

Days here are shaped by the water. Walk the pier at first light, take a boat to see the dolphin that has lived in the bay for years, or follow the coast road until you run out of daylight.
By late afternoon the sitting room fire is lit. Wet boots by the hearth, a pot of tea, and the harbour turning copper in the window.
