Children’s & editorial illustration · Manchester
I’m Tilly, and I make picture books, magazine spreads and packaging art with gouache, scissors and a lot of glue. Loud colour, honest texture, and at least one anxious animal per project.
Clients include small presses, regional magazines and one very patient bakery.
Selected work
Picture book, 32 pages. Gouache on watercolour paper with cut-paper moons.
Editorial series for a regional magazine. Six spreads, one deadline, much tea.
Character sheets and cover art for a middle-grade adventure about bravery.
About
I studied illustration in Manchester and have been working from a shared studio near the canal ever since. Every piece begins as a pile of painted paper; I cut, arrange and rearrange until the shapes feel like they’re already moving. Then I scan it, tidy the edges, and keep the wobbles on purpose.

Process & style
Tilly builds each piece from gouache paint and cut paper, layering shapes and texture until the page feels tactile.
That hand-made warmth suits picture-book publishers, magazine editors and toy brands who want characters with personality, not polish for polish’s sake.
